For the second time in three weeks, a massive truck fire shuttered the lower level of the Ed Koch-Queensboro Bridge, this time shutting down traffic on Manhattan bound lanes of the lower tier.
Twelve FDNY units and 60 firefighters fought the blaze, which appeared to begin in the cab of an 18-wheeler.
No injuries were reported.
But several hundred runners in the NYC Runs 10K race on Roosevelt Island below the fire had to be rerouted.
The fire broke out at about 9:40 a.m. and was under control about 5 hours later. Today’s rush hour is not expected to be affected.
