Brooklyn gang member charged in fatal shooting of 17-year-old in April

A man was arrested on Thursday for allegedly shooting a 17-year-old to death in April of this year.

According to police, at 12:07 a.m. on April 23 officers responded to a 911 call regarding a man shot behind the Bayview Houses, located at 1540 East 102nd Street. Upon their arrival, officers found Jaden Brown with a gunshot wound to his chest.

Paramedics rushed Brown to Brookdale Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

On Dec. 22, officers arrested Wayne Evans, 23, in connection to the incident. He was charged with murder and criminal possession of a weapon.

A spokesperson for the NYPD stated that the incident is believed to be gang-related. According to the Daily News, Evans is a member of the Bloods gang and has several prior arrests, and is being held on federal drug charges.
