The Brooklyn man accused of murdering his neighbor’s 3-year-old child was ordered indefinitely locked up on Tuesday night as more grisly details about the case emerge.
According to court documents and police sources, 29-year-old Kevin James stands accused of murdering 3-year-old Denim Brown in Flatbush on March 17. Initially, it was indicated that the tot suffered severe head trauma inside of 770 New York, which led to his untimely death.
Brown was said to have been left in the care of James’ stepfather, who lives next door, when James apparently took the child into a vacant apartment on the building’s 4th floor. According to court documents and the Chief Medical Examiner, Brown had been beaten across the face and body before being drowned.
An autopsy concluded that Brown’s cause of death was drowning with a contributing factor of blunt force trauma.
The tot was discovered face down in a bathtub filled with water and was pronounced dead at 10:21 p.m. Sunday night. The alleged killer’s credit card was discovered near the bathtub, linking him to the crime.
A witness also apparently saw James leave his apartment with Brown earlier that evening around 7 p.m.
