The Greenwich Village Chelsea Chamber of Commerce board of directors last week hired a new executive director, June Lee, a Village resident with 13 years of marketing experience.
“We’re confident that June will help us build upon our momentum of increasing membership and expanding programming,” said Michael Haberman, Chamber president.
Before joining the Chamber, Lee was marketing vice president of CafeDVD.com, an online DVD rental service whose revenues increased 600 percent during her tenure. Prior to CafeDVD, she was a consultant for KDD Telecommunications, Inc., a Japanese firm for whom she handled marketing in the U.S. and before that she was a planner and account manager for Leo Burnett Co., where she managed Visa International, Coca-Cola, Johnny Walker and Sealy Mattress brands.
Born in Seoul, Korea, she went to the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana, where she earned a masters degree in advertising.
She came to New York a year ago from San Francisco and settled in the Village. “It’s the best neighborhood I’ve ever lived in,” she said, “and I’m looking forward to meeting all our members.”
During the past year, the G.V.C.C.C. membership has increased 40 percent to more than 175 and its annual budget has doubled to about $150,000, according to Haberman.
“It’s enabled us to do new programs to improve members’ business,” he said
