Jane Chesnutt, editor in chief of Woman’s Day, and Councilmember Rosie Mendez will be this year’s honorees at the Union Square Partnership’s 15th annual Education Program Luncheon on May 19 at the Union Square Ballroom, 27 Union Square West between 15th and 16th Sts.
The Partnership’s Education Program works with Washington Irving High School to enrich students’ personal and educational experiences.
Chesnutt will receive the 15th Annual Cus D’Amato Community Service Award for her longstanding commitment to the Partnership Education Program.
The award is named in honor of Cus D’Amato, late owner of Gramercy Gym, who was a positive influence on those he coached in the ring.
Mendez, who represents Council District 2, will receive the second annual Norman Buchbinder Community Leadership Award for her support and dedication to the Partnership Education Program.
The award is named for the late Norman Buchbinder, a founder of the Partnership and “a constant inspiration reminding us that it is our civic responsibility to do more and get involved,” said Jennifer Falk, Union Square Partnership executive director.
