Celebrating the opening last Saturday of Crumbs, a bakery at 37 E. Eighth St., Jose Cancel, 10, decorated his cupcake and then took a bite while Leia Ponton, 6, a Village resident, decorated her cupcake. Cancel plays on the Village Alliance Little League Pirates in the Greenwich Village Little League. About 40 youngsters attended the April 28 event, which the Village Alliance business improvement district helped promote. The BID encompasses Sixth Ave. between W. Fourth and W. 12th Sts., Eighth St. from Sixth Ave. to Broadway, Astor Pl. and part of St. Mark’s Pl. and includes 430 businesses.
