Baryshnikov and von Furstenburg
Wall Street Rising opens an arts exhibit with “guest curators” who include people like Mikhail Baryshnikov and Diane von Furstenberg. Each of the artists produced an exhibit either based upon their own art, or with pieces from artists they admire. Each exhibit also includes pieces from the Deutsche Bank art collection, which is sponsoring the project. Other well known figures include author/artist, Danny Simmons and his hip-hop brother Russell Simmons along with artist and designer Robert Wilson.
Free to the public, the exhibit will be housed at 48 Wall St.
Baryshnikov brings a video installation by artist Chris Doyle, entitled “We Will Again Be Optimists.” It consists of video projections of modern day figures superimposed upon four painted murals in the Grand Banking Hall. von Furstenberg pairs with Japanese artist, Miwa Yanagi. von Furstenberg contributes an original dress created with fabric printed with one of Miwa Yanagi’s surreal images, “Midnight Awakening Dream.”
Also included will be an extensive art exhibit featuring works by such artists as Sigmar Polke, and Andy Warhol .
