Pre-K seats at P.S. 150
P.S. 150 in Tribeca still has seats available in its morning and afternoon pre-kindergarten classes for this fall. The morning session is from 8:20 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and the afternoon class is from noon to 2:40 a.m.
The tiny Greenwich St. elementary school fills its kindergarten seats primarily with its pre-kindergarten students, so parents interested in enrolling their children in the school are encouraged to start them at the pre-K level. The school gives admissions preference to children who live within the zones for P.S. 234 and P.S. 89.

Branford plays River
The Branford Marsalis Quartet has just been added to the River to River Festival’s first concert on June 3. This year’s opening act will be saxophonist Branford, who like his traditionalist brother, Wynton, interprets classic jazz standards and plays new material as well. The quartet will be followed by Joshua Bell with the Orchestra of St. Luke’s. Bell, a Grammy Award winning violinist, will be playing selections from his last album, “Romance of the Violin.”
The launch concert will be given on the Lawn of Battery Park beginning at 7:00 p.m. The gates open at 5:00; admission is free.
Egg creams and rolls
The Eldridge Street Project will bring the first weekend in June to a delicious finish with its fourth annual Egg Rolls and Egg Creams Block Party. The theme of this year’s festival is “Generations,” and will focus on the way traditions and stories are transmitted from one generation to the next. The festival will include performances from Chinese Opera singer Kuang-uyu Fong and klezmer musician Ray Musiker.
The block party is produced by the non-sectarian Eldridge Street Project, which is committed to restoring the Eldridge Street Synagogue – a National Historic Landmark since 1996 – as a community space. The festival will center in and around the synagogue and is scheduled for June 6, noon – 4 p.m. on Eldridge between Canal and Division streets. No word on whether anyone will attempt to eat an egg roll and an egg cream simultaneously, or if the traditional Bosco syrup will be used in the egg cream.
