An East Village man suspected in a drug deal near Sheridan Sq. in the Village on Fri., Dec. 17 was shot and injured when detectives arrested him a short time later, police said. William Jackson, 19, of 610 E. 11th St., was taken to St. Vincent’s Hospital in stable condition and charged with possession of crack, police said.
Detectives from the Manhattan South Narcotics unit observed the suspected drug sale on Seventh Ave. S. at Christopher St. at about 1:35 a.m. and followed the suspect after he got into a cab heading Downtown, police said. When the cab stopped for a traffic light on Varick and King Sts., the officers approached and identified themselves, police said. After ordering Jackson out of the cab, one of the officers fired a shot through the cab door and hit the suspect in the right arm. Police said Williams was found carrying 40 vials of crack cocaine.
