Forecasters out of tune with Memorial Day weekend

On Sunday, in the middle of Memorial Day weekend, local music fans looked forward to a holiday respite in the form of a “Hootenanny” concert in Tompkins Square Park. However, the night before, organizer Chris Flash canceled the concert due to predictions of severe weather. Sunday afternoon was warm and sunny, leading musician Roger Manning, who played to a small audience, above, to call meteorological prognosticators “weather terrorists.”
