Comedian Eric Bogosian and artist Elizabeth Murray joined many of their Tribeca neighbors recently to learn more about Neighbors Against NOISE’s efforts against the illegal amounts of diesel fuel stored at the Western Union building at 60 Hudson St. The group raised about $12,000 at the fundraiser at Edward’s restaurant May 15. Their attorney, Norman Siegel, encouraged residents to show up in large numbers at a Board of Standards and Appeals hearing June 7, 10 a.m., 40 Rector St. The city Buildings Dept. granted the building owners a variance to store the extra diesel if they took added fire protection measures, but residents are appealing the decision. B.S.A. commissioners sounded skeptical of the city’s arguments at the last hearing several months ago.
