Meat Market on the ropes
A special Village supplement
Fusing fitness and physical therapy on 13t
Shoppers tired out from all their walking around the Meat Market might want to stop in for a tune-up at Fusion Physical Therapy and Sports Medicine, at 407 W. 13th St. Co-owned by Carolyn Mazur, a physical therapist and amateur bodybuilder, and Tommy Morgan, a firefighter from Ladder 18 at Pitt and Delancey Sts. on the Lower East Side, Fusion specializes in rehab for injuries after managed-care coverage runs out. The cost to join the gym is $99 a month, or $80-a-month for a four-month rehab program. The 5,000-sq.-ft. space opened a year-and-a-half ago. Fusion features a relaxed atmosphere and clients are greeted on a first-name basis. What makes the place unique is Mazur’s healing touch, Morgan said. “Firefighters get banged up a lot. She put me back together a couple of times,” Morgan said of Mazur. He said depending on the time of day, one can find celebrities from the new trendy Meat Market places, as well as local residents at the fitness center. Call 212-924-4920 for more information.
