The Villager erred in an article on New York University President John Sexton’s Dec. 19 community town meeting by referring to City Councilmember Alan Jay Gerson’s prepared statement as saying the councilmember “suggested that N.Y.U. should consider developing on Governors Island to relieve pressure on the Village and East Village.” The statement actually said, “Governors Island also provides exciting opportunities for collaboration. The most promising scenario for the island’s future includes facilities for high-level scientific, technical research or think tanks — this has been long needed in our city in several disciplines. N.Y.U. should be in the forefront of organizing the necessary collaboration and commitment.”
