“Did you see the hawk?” a stranger asked Glenn Serrano as he was walking through the grounds at Stuyvesant Town on Saturday morning Dec. 16. Serrano, who lives on Avenue D at Fourth St., was crossing the complex at E. 16th St. on his way to a medical appointment but he ran all the way back home, grabbed his digital camera and returned hoping the hawk, apparently a male red tail, would still be there. “He was up in a tree,” Serrano said on Monday. “He flew down and landed on a Christmas wreath on top of a lamppost,” he said. “It was like he came down to pose for me, and I got him. I tried for another picture but he flew away.” It was Serrano’s first hawk photo. “I saw another one — bigger and darker up in a tree [apparently a female] feeding. But it was too far away to get a good picture,” said Serrano, who is an amateur photographer and was born and raised on the Lower East Side.
