Police Commissioner Ray Kelly and City Councilmember Christine Quinn joined the Sixth Precinct and family members of Police Officer James P. Leahy last Tues., July 20, in dedicating a new sign at the northeast corner of W. 10th and Hudson Sts., co-naming the street for Officer Leahy. Leahy died inside the World Trade Center on 9/11 while involved in the rescue effort. At left, Jeanette Leahy, Officer Leahy’s mother, and family members look up as the sign is uncovered at the ceremony. At right, admiring the sign are Councilmember Quinn and Commissioner Kelly, to Jeanette Leahy’s right; Marcella Leahy, the officer’s widow, at far right; and their sons and nephews.
