Secretary of State Hillary Clinton will be the keynote speaker at New York University’s 177th commencement on May 13 in Yankee Stadium.
Clinton, former New York senator, will also receive an honorary doctor of laws degree. Other honorary-doctorate recipients will be Albert Fert, Nobel Prize-winning physicist, whose work lead to miniaturization of computer hard disks; Jessie Gruman, a nationally recognized health-research advocate; John Patrick Shanley, N.Y.U. alumnus, playwright and winner of Pulitzer, Tony and Oscar awards; and journalist Helen Thomas, dean of the White House press corps.
Schools Chancellor Joel Klein will receive the Lewis Rudin Award for Exemplary Service to New York City.
On March 25, British Prime Minister Gordon Brown, along with former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright and former Federal Reserve Chairman Paul Volcker, discussed “A New Multilateralism for the 21st Century,” including global economics, climate change and the need for cooperation on security, at N.Y.U.’s Kimmel Center.
