How sweet it is!

This 1956 Fifth Ave. coach bus parked on Broadway and 44th St. was part of the M.T.A.’s vintage bus fleet that was out on the streets in the first half of December. This particular one is the first air-conditioned transit bus in the country. It was used on Fifth Ave., on the M4 and M5 routes, and retired in the mid-1970s. Save for Ralph Kramden himself behind the wheel, all the original details and ads have been preserved.
