Jeanne Tregue, longtime president of 13th Precinct Community Council

Jeanne Tregue, who for many years was president of the 13th Police Precinct Community Council, died last Sunday of natural causes after a long illness. She lived in Gramercy on E. 15th St. at Third Ave. and worked at a nursing home Uptown. The community council holds regular monthly public meetings with the precinct to inform the community about what the police are working on and hear crime reports. Recently, Tregue, still the council’s president, was recently working on organizing the community council’s upcoming street fair on June 25 on Second Ave.

Gail Fox, co-chairperson of the Union Square Community Coalition, said she and Susan Kramer, her co-chairperson, were sorrowed by the loss. “We appreciated all she did for the community,” said Fox. A more complete obituary will follow in next week’s Villager.

There will be a Mass at the Church of the Immaculate Conception at 14th St. and First Ave. on Thurs., June 9 at 11 a.m.
