Last Friday The Eldridge Street Project assembled more than 100 of the world’s most influential klezmer musicians for “A Great Day On Eldridge Street,” the beginning of a 10-day series of concerts, lectures and educational events. The day started with a photo shoot with the musicians standing on the steps of the Eldridge Street Synagogue, re-creating the iconic 1958 photograph of renowned jazz musicians, “A Great Day In Harlem.” The musicians and others then paraded to Seward Park for a half-hour concert. Above musicians marched east on Canal St. while playing “Bei Mir Bist Du Schein.”
