Man punches woman in unprovoked attack on a Manhattan street: NYPD

Detectives are looking for a man who punched a woman in the face in Manhattan for no apparent reason.

According to police, at 6:16 p.m. on Jan. 7 a 28-year-old woman was walking in the vicinity of 6th Avenue and Waverly Place when she was approached by an unknown man. The man proceeded to punch the woman in the face in an unprovoked attack.

No words were exchanged prior to the attack. The suspect then fled the scene on foot eastbound on Waverly Place. EMS took the victim to New York University hospital where she was treated and released.

The NYPD released photos of the suspect taken in the vicinity of the incident location. He is described as a man between the ages of 20 to 30 years old.
