Ed Koch celebrated the release of his children’s book, “Eddie: Harold’s Little Brother,” at the Four Seasons last Thursday night, though the fete was a bit overshadowed by camera crews lining the sidewalks, hoping to catch a glimpse of Martha Stewart on her way into the hotel for her “last supper” before jail.
More than 200 friends, family and colleagues of the former mayor gathered in the elegant Grill Room for a quiet reception. The book, under Penguin’s Grosset & Dunlap Imprint, which Koch co-authored with his sister, Pat Koch Thaler, was written for his sister’s seven grandchildren, “and they all love the book,” Koch said. Jack Rudin, chairperson of Rudin Management Company, Inc., threw the party for Koch, his friend of over 35 years.
Among the attendees were Nancy Paulsen, Putnam children’s group publisher and editor; Doug Whiteman, Penguin Group president; Cecilia Yung, Penguin Young Readers Group art director and vice president; John LoCicero and Diane Coffey, former top Koch aides; former Parks Commissioner Henry Stern and Rose Gill Hearn, Department of Investigation chief commissioner. Mayor Bloomberg made an early appearance.
