New York University President John Sexton, students, staff, faculty, vice presidents, deans and local school children will pitch in for N.Y.U.’s VIP (Volunteer In the Park) Day. Working together, the N.Y.U. community will paint benches and fences, plant flowers, collect garbage and give Washington Square Park its annual spring spruce-up. VIP Day is held on Earth Day, Thurs., April 22 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Last year, over 400 members of the N.Y.U. community supported this annual project, which has been a part of N.Y.U.’s tradition of service since 1986.
This year’s VIP Day follows the recently completed $3 million dollar restoration of the Washington Square Arch, amid a growing grassroots effort to completely renovate the park.
