According to police, an East Village man annoyed that a neighbor was moving into the building at 2:40 a.m. on Dec. 31, brandished a shotgun at his neighbor and the movers and threatened to kill them if they didn’t stop. A police spokesperson, Detective Kevin Czartoryski, said that a tenant in Apartment 9 at 513 E. Sixth St. was moving in furniture with the movers when the resident of Apartment 10, Vincent Papaleo, 43, complained and asked them to stop. They continued to move in the furniture, after which Papaleo grabbed a pump shotgun and told them he would kill them. Ninth Precinct police arrived, arrested Papaleo and confiscated two shotguns and one rifle. Police carried the guns out in their cases, above. Papaleo was charged with menacing and could face additional charges, Czartoryski said. A witness said the moving men, from Moishe’s Movers, dropped everything in the street — including a safe, at left — and ran for their lives for several blocks, before returning. One said it was his first day on the job. Officers at the scene reportedly said the man’s guns were registered.
