Pageant of volunteers for schools

Leigh-Taylor Smith, Miss New York, above, pitched in with Deputy Mayor Dennis Walcott at P.S. 140, on Ridge St., on Oct. 18, at New York Cares Day. The event saw volunteers spruce up more than 100 public schools around the city. Walcott spoke about volunteerism and how partnerships between public, private and nonprofit entities help education reform.
