Kapindra Swami, who led the Hare Krishna’s Avenue B ashram until its eviction two years ago, chanted and praised his late spiritual leader, Prabhupada, in Tompkins Sq. Park a few weeks ago. Prabhupada started the Hare Krishna movement in America in the East Village — the tree to Kapindra’s left is known as “Prabhupada’s Tree.” The Krishnas, who continue to feed the park’s homeless, reportedly have found a new second-floor space at 17th St. and Sixth Ave.
