The Sixth Precinct held a memorial ceremony and plaque dedication at the W. 10th St. stationhouse for Police Officer James Leahy and Det. Claude “Danny” Richards Dec. 10. Leahy, a Sixth Precinct patrol officer, and Richards, a member of the Bomb Squad — which is based in the precinct — both died on 9/11 responding to the World Trade Center attack. Photos, counterclockwise from top, Jeanette Leahy, Officer Leahy’s mother, and his sons, John Leahy, 9, and Danny Leahy, 16, looked at the brass plaque of Leahy outside the precinct; Police Commissioner Ray Kelly spoke at the ceremony; officers carried Richards’ plaque; James Richards laid a rose by his brother’s plaque.
