Classics of JazzIn the Fall of 1957, Novelist Jack Kerouac and composer/musician David Amram presented the first public jazz/poetry readings ever given in New York City. The New York Book ClubA Living Lens: Photographs of Jewish Life from the Pages of the Forwardwith editor Alana Newhouse. A hundred years after the first issue of the Jewish Daily Forward was published in 1897, the newspaper’s editors discovered a treasure trove – filing cabinets full of photographs, letters, and keepsakes chronicling the lives of the Lower East Side’s Jewish community.
