Rerun for old TV’s

Old electrical appliances, TV’s and computers were collected for recycling last Sunday at Union Sq.’s north plaza as part of Earth Day events sponsored by the the Lower East Side Ecology Center. Christine Datz-Romero, of the Ecology Center, said, 9,865 pounds, or almost five tons, of computers and appliances were collected. According to the Ecology Center, electronics account for one percent of the contents of landfills by volume but contribute up to 70 percent of toxins found in landfills.
