Last Wednesday, the day after President Obama announced plans to send 30,000 more troops to Afghanistan, 200 protesters rallied outside the Times Square Armed Forces Recruiting Center. Members of War Resisters League, Granny Peace Brigade, Veterans for Peace and Code Pink stood in the rain on “Military Island,” condemning the escalation and calling for the troops to come home.
