Marguerite Gobbi, 9, from Murray Hill, but moving to California in a few weeks. Used to go to Lyceum Kennedy in New York City; will be entering fourth grade at Lycée Français, in California.
Best part of summer: “My vacation in Tunisia for one month. I went swimming in the ocean.”
Are you excited to go back to school? “Kind of, because I am gonna see friends, and I like the library.”
Favorite subject: “Writing adventure stories. We write in every class.”
Favorite teacher: “Ms. Carella, English — because she wasn’t always serious. She laughed. She was fun.”
Career goal: “Author of mysterious stories.”
Jordan Williams, 8, from Flatbush, Brooklyn, entering third grade at P.S. 6.
Best part of summer: “My favorite part of summer is that my birthday is in the summer and that there is no school. I went to the movies on my birthday.”
Thoughts on going back to school: “I am kinda feeling like going back to school because the only way I could get smarter is going back to school.”
Favorite subject: “My favorite class is going to the gym. I like to play freeze tag.”
Favorite teacher: “Ms. Oliverre, because she always make us have a lot of fun and when we were good she gave us cookies.”
Career goal: “I wanna be a musician and a chef.”
Stephanie Koenig, 10, from Bethpage, N.Y., entering fifth grade at Charles Campagne School.
Best part of summer: “I like playing with my friends and having sleepovers.”
Favorite school subject: “I like art because I like painting.”
Favorite teacher: “Ms. Peters — third-grade homeroom was nice.”
Career goal: “I either want to be an artist or a teacher.”
Nigel Williams, 12, from Flatbush, Brooklyn, entering eighth grade at M.S. 340.
Best part of summer: “No school and hanging out with my friends. We went to Madison Square Garden and saw Streetball.”
Are you excited about going back to school? “Well, a little bit, I am looking forward to going to the next grade. Summer’s ending too quick”
Favorite subject: “Math, because I like solving problems. I don’t really like any other subjects.”
Career goal: “An electrician. I like fixing stuff. If being an electrician doesn’t work out, then I’ll probably end up being a pool champion.”
