On Wed., Sept. 22, officials held a ribbon-cutting at Broadway between 17th and 18th Sts. to mark the completion of the traffic-calming redesign for the north side of Union Square and the creation of a pedestrian plaza along Broadway. Afterward, three of the ribbon-cutters tried out one of the new tables and chairs in the pedestrian area, from left, Janette Sadik-Khan, Department of Transportation commissioner; Jennifer Falk, director of the Union Square Partnership, and Lynne Brown, N.Y.U. vice president.
