At the recent United Nations General Assembly, protesters who were able to get through the U.N.-created traffic jams demanded freedom for their countries. But Orthodox Jews said they don’t want a country, at least not one that was “established by human force,” namely Israel, to exist, until the universally accepted moshiach, or messiah, comes. Meanwhile, former Boomtown Rat Sir Bob Geldof, sitting on a bench across from the U.N., below, at right, took it all in stride. In the 1980s, Geldof organized the Band-Aid project and Live Aid concert to help Africa fight famine. He was a guest of Secretary General Kofi Annan and appeared as a panel speaker with Tony Blair at one of the meetings.
