The Yes Men show a lot of balls on climate change

On Tues., Sept. 22, in the East River near the United Nations, the Yes Men (in suits) and 20 of their associates staged a protest to draw attention to global warming during the high-level summit on climate change at the U.N. Shown are so-called “survivaballs,” a kind of “climate catastrophe couture,” purportedly designed and built by a consortium of corporations for people in the future to live in when, left unchecked, climate change wreaks havoc on the planet. Police were not amused, and responded in force, by land, boat and helicopter, issuing the group summonses for disorderly conduct. For more about the self-described “gonzo political activists,” the movie “The Yes Men Fix the World” — which one reviewer described as “‘Bruno’ meets Michael Moore” — will be showing at the Film Forum on W. Houston St. for two weeks only from Oct. 7-20.
