She took the borough’s top honors and a $1,500 scholarship the next night and will compete for the Miss New York prize in June with hopes of becoming Miss America in September. If for some reason Pelletier, a Rockette, is not able to fulfill her duties as Miss Manhattan, Amelia Nelson, left, 22, the first runner-up and a recent graduate of New York University, will step in. Pelletier, a junior at N.Y.U. who lives in Hell’s Kitchen, was a runner-up in last year’s Miss Georgia competition.
