Town hall meetings on Chelsea crime, Village bars and nightlife

State Senator Tom Duane is sponsoring two town hall meetings, one on fighting crime in Chelsea on June 28, and the other on bars and nightlife in the Village on June 30.

The meeting on fighting crime and improving safety in Chelsea and Hell’s Kitchen will begin at 6 p.m. Tues., June 28, at the Hudson Guild Elliott Center, 441 W. 26th St. The meeting is also sponsored by Assemblymember Richard Gottfried and City Councilmember Christine Quinn.

Representatives from the Police Department’s Manhattan South Narcotics Division, P.S.A. District 4 of the Housing Division, 10th Precinct and New York City Housing Authority, Community Board 4, West Side Crime Prevention, Hudson Guild Beacon program and the Elliott-Chelsea Tenant Association will participate in the meeting.

The meeting on Village bars and nightlife, will begin at 6:30 p.m. Thurs, June 30, at Our Lady of Pompei Church, at 25 Carmine St. Councilmembers Quinn and Alan Jay Gerson and Assemblymember Deborah Glick are also sponsoring the meeting.

Representatives from the State Liquor Authority, the Sixth and 13th Precincts, Community Board 2 and the city Departments of Transportation and Consumer Affairs are expected to be on hand.
