The Idiotarod, a local version of the famous Alaskan dogsled race, mushed its way from DUMBO in Brooklyn to Union Sq. last Saturday. There were a few differences, though: hipsters were used instead of dogs, and shopping carts instead of sleds. The rules of the race require four “mushers” to be attached to a shopping cart, with one runner following behind. The four-hour trek started at Pedro’s in DUMBO, with a pit stop (getting drunk was encouraged) at Bowery Poetry Club on the Bowery before winding up at Union Sq.
