There were a number of arrests for disorderly conduct at the Village Halloween Parade Tuesday night. A man dressed as Fred Flintstone was arrested during the parade at W. Fourth St. and MacDougal Sts. and led away, while screaming, to a holding area in Washington Square Park, right. An officer explained he was being taken in on a charge of being drunk and disorderly. One arrest involved a fight between a 15-year-old named Dominic and an older man, whose face was painted red, in front of 25 W. Eighth St. The man, below, alleged that the youth had thrown an egg at his girlfriend. Dominic’s companion, Patrick, told the police that no eggs where thrown. Both were being questioned by several police officers. Dominic turned to yell a response at the man with whom he had been fighting, and was told to be quiet by the officers. When he continued to yell, he was thrown to the ground and handcuffed, above, then pulled to his feet, as one officer held the back of his neck, and pushed his face into the wall. A large crowd watching yelled, one person shouting, “Photograph this, this is too much!” The young suspect seemed angry but did not seem to be resisting or trying to get away. Rather, it seemed he was being roughed up for “mouthing off,” as Patrick described his friend’s behavior. The marks on the youth’s face were likely all Halloween makeup, though some injury seemed to have happened in the initial fight. Dominic and the other man where led off in handcuffs. Officers told Patrick that his friend would be taken to the Sixth Police Precinct on W. 10th St. and given a summons.
