Burglary at salon and robbery pattern in this week’s Village blotter

Break-in at Elizabeth Street salon

Police said they are looking for a man in connection with a burglary at Arte Salon, at 294 Elizabeth St., on Sunday, Feb. 23. Around 2:10 p.m., the man allegedly gained entry through an unsecured front door, then took around $600 from a safe before fleeing in an unknown direction.

A man is wanted by police for grand larceny after an alleged theft inside 55 Bond St., officials said. On Wednesday, Feb. 26, the man, who police said is named Andre Skinner, allegedly took a woman’s cellphone from her jacket while inside the location.

 

TV taken at Smith Houses

A man and a woman are wanted by police for an alleged burglary at Smith Houses, at 10 Catherine Slip, officials said. On Tuesday, Feb. 4, around 9 p.m., the two people allegedly gained access to a maintenance room by forcing open the entrance door, then took a 24-inch television before fleeing in an unknown direction.

 

Muggings on Essex Street

Two men are sought by police for a robbery pattern on Essex Street that involved attacking victims, officials said. Both incidents occurred inside Seward Park Extension, at 64 Essex St. On Feb. 12, around 1:45 p.m., two men allegedly approached a 27-year-old male victim from behind and put him in a chokehold. Police said they then punched him several times about the face and body, and allegedly took about $60 before fleeing. The victim was treated at the scene for bruising and pain. Then on Feb. 17, around 12:45 p.m., the two men allegedly approached a 66-year-old male victim from behind, grabbed his neck and took his wallet. The robbers fled toward the Delancey Street subway station with $150 and credit cards, officials said. The victim sustained bruising on his head from hitting a wall during the struggle, and was taken to NewYork-Presbyterian Lower Manhattan Hospital.
