Traffic collision in Harlem leads to shots fired at off-duty officer: NYPD

A suspect was nabbed in Brooklyn following a Wednesday morning shooting involving an off-duty officer following a minor traffic accident in Harlem.

According to the NYPD, at around 6:45 a.m. on March 23 the officer was driving in the vicinity of West 155th Street and Edgecombe Avenue when another car was involved in a collision with their vehicle. It was reported that the officer’s vehicle was sideswiped by an SUV.

The driver then fired at the officer’s vehicle before driving off. No one returned fire and there were no injuries reported. 

Sources familiar with the investigation told amNewYork Metro that a car stop in Brooklyn at Van Sinderen Avenue and Blake Avenue was made in connection to this incident. The NYPD confirmed that two people were taken into custody, and one suspect may be facing federal charges in relation to the incident.
