An affordable housing lottery geared toward New York City seniors struggling to make ends meet has officially opened in the West Village.
Located at 570 Washington St., the units are designed to support individuals aged 62 and older. The units are being delivered as part of the “550 Washington Street / Special Hudson River Park District” rezoning.
Of the 176 units, 57 are studios (for households of 1–2; income up to $64,800), 40 are one-bedrooms (for households of 1–3; income up to $72,900), and 25 are two-bedrooms (for households of 2–5; income up to $87,500). Eligible tenants will pay 30% of their income for their rent.

The spacious units feature energy-efficient appliances, air conditioning, and modern fixtures. Building amenities include an elevator, a community room with a warming kitchen, Wi-Fi in the common areas, a health and wellness center, social service offices, a library and computer room, a fitness center, shared laundry facilities, bike storage, and on-site management and security guards.
Though the property doesn’t allow pets, exceptions can be made to those permitted under reasonable accommodation requests. Rent includes all utilities, and eligible tenants must qualify for Section 8.
The lottery ends on Oct. 27, 2025, and at least one member of the household must be 62 years or older to apply. To apply, visit the listing on New York City’s Housing Connect website.
