The Little League World Series isn’t just for the boys.
Girls have participated the series since 1989, and this year’s sensation is Mo’ne Davis, a 13-year-old from Philadelphia with a 70-mph fastball. The 18th girl to participate in the Little League World Series, she went down in history again on Aug. 15 when she became the first girl to throw a complete shutout.
In Wednesday’s game, Davis struck out six but also gave up six runs, and her team, the Taney Dragons, eventually lost to Las Vegas, 8-1.
The Taney Dragons were eliminated on Thursday night by Chicago, but this surely isn’t the last we’ve seen of Davis, who says her dream is to play in the WNBA one day — which doesn’t seem out of reach given her talent and attitude.
Here are a few of the quotes that prove what a badass Davis is — and why we can’t wait to see what she’ll go on to achieve.
