EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. — The “Scottish Hammer” Jamie Gillan is returning to the United States to rejoin the Giants after getting stuck in London due to a visa issue. Head coach Brian Daboll said that Gillan should be back stateside by Wednesday night and he believed that he was already on a plane when the Giants coach addressed reporters.
NFL Network had been first to report the travel issue for the Giants punter.
Gillan was born in Scotland and came to the United States with his dad, who was a member of the Royal Air Force, when he was a kid. Since his father was in the military he had traveled over on a NATO visa and it had never been transferred to a work visa when he started playing in the NFL.
Daboll told reporters that they had anticipated this issue arising. “Hopefully we see him tomorrow,” Daboll added before ending his media briefing at the Giants training complex.
That means that Gillan will be good to go for the Giants’ weekend matchup with the Baltimore Ravens at MetLife Stadium. It had been reported that New York had planned to work out some punters in case the visa issue wasn’t resolved in time.
Giants injury update
New York has a number of players battling through injuries and they still have a few working their way back. Cordale Flott, Kadarius Toney and Kenny Golladay did not practice on Wednesday. Additionally, Azeez Ojulari, Wan’Dale Robinso, Leonard Williams, Adoree Jackson and Tyrod Taylor were limited participants in practice.
Saquon Barkley also was expected to practice in a limited role.

Daboll did note that they all had been “trending upward” as he address their statuses. Daniel Jones also came out of last Sunday’s game in London OK after suffering an ankle injury.
“I think he’ll continue to make progress,” Jones said. “He came out good. He feels better today than he does last Wednesday.”
