Woman in custody for brutally stabbing 85-year-old man to death in Brooklyn

A woman is in custody after an 85-year-old man was found stabbed in his Brooklyn home on Thursday night.

Authorities say that at 10:09 p.m. on Jan. 23, the NYPD responded to a 911 call regarding an assault in progress inside an apartment at 501 Lefferts Avenue in Crown Heights. Upon their arrival, officers found Edill Gonzalez unconscious and unresponsive, with multiple stab wounds throughout his body.

EMS rushed Gonzalez to NYC Health & Hospitals/Kings County, where he was pronounced dead.

A knife was recovered at the scene and a 48-year-old woman was taken into custody shortly afterward. At the time of publication, charges have not been brought against the woman.
