Each year, Batman and other caped crusaders walk the streets as if they were real-life superheroes.
Of course, it’s only the most visible sign that fans of comic books and other sci-fi and fantasy entertainment have dressed up for the annual New York Comic Con, the largest convention of its kind on the East Coast.
The gathering has gotten so big that it is the “crown jewel” of a weeklong, citywide celebration called New York Super Week that runs from Oct. 5 to 11 and unofficially starts Saturday with a mega esports gaming competition at Madison Square Garden.
Aside from the convention itself — which is sold out — Super Week organizers are planning to hold everything from a “Game of Thrones”-themed dance party with the actor who plays Hodor as D.J. to a cosplay burlesque show.
