July Fourth parties and celebrations in NYC: Where to watch the Macy’s fireworks display

Bring on the hot dogs, the fireworks and the red, white and blue — Independence Day is here and there’s no shortage of places where you can celebrate.

As America rings in its 243rd year, New Yorkers will party on rooftops, aboard boats, at shows or enjoy the night air near the East River, where the Macy’s fireworks are set off.

Below, we’ve picked notable celebrations around the city to help you plan your night.

Manhattan

The New-York Historical Society
170 Central Park West
10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Explore Geroge Washington’s encampment in the museum’s outdoor courtyard, where an impersonator will explain daily life in the Continental Army (from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.), see army regiments do drills (noon, 1 and 2 p.m.), march with fife and drum musicians (every 15 minutes between 11:15 and 3 p.m.) and hear a live reading from a John Adams impersonator (noon, 1 and 2 p.m.). You can also take a self-guided tour in the galleries, kids can take part in a scavenger hunt and decorate their own tricorn hat. (11 a.m. to 3 p.m.) There will be hot dogs and a sweet treat on the second floor (11 a.m. to 2 p.m.), a theatrical performance about Deborah Sampson who pretended to be a man to fight in the war (12:30 p.m.), and more. Admission is free for kids and $22 for adults.

South Street Heliport

4:30 p.m. to 11 p.m.

Front Row Fireworks returns with an exclusive fireworks viewing experience right on the East River. This is an all-ages event, with live DJ performances, barbecue and drinks for purchase and more. Tickets are $30-$60.

One World Observatory
285 Fulton St.
8 p.m. to 11 p.m.

Watch the fireworks and celebrate America’s birthday from 1,776 feet above Manhattan at the One World Observatory. You’ll have 360-degree views of the city as you get access to festivities on the 100th floor of One World Trade, including an open bar, All-American foods like hot dogs, and more. Tickets are $75-$325.

Industry Kitchen
70 South St.
7 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Eat until your belly is full at this premium open bar and buffet just steps from the East River’s edge. With indoor and outdoor seating, Industry Kitchen has unobstructed views of the fireworks with floor-to-ceiling windows. Seating opens early at 5 p.m. with a cash bar. The all-inclusive event begins at 7 p.m. Tickets start at $273.

Magic Hour Rooftop
485 Seventh Ave.
3 p.m. to 4 a.m.

Start your Independence Day fun with a festival-style party with dancing, music by special guest DJs and playing on the rooftop’s "urban amusement park" that has gardens, life-size animals and mini-golf, and enjoy an hourlong vodka bar. The party really goes for 12 hours. Tickets start at $15.

Freedom Fest at Pier 15

6:45 p.m. to 11 p.m.

Enjoy an all-American feast with tons of barbecue (pork tacos, burgers, hot dogs, pulled pork sliders and more), a four-hour open bar, music by a live DJ and a great view of the fireworks show. The Crown

4 p.m.

As the venue’s name suggests, The Crown’s Fourth of July party is all about royalty. Come dressed in jewels and your most regal attire. Guests will be privy to 360-degree views of the city’s skyline with prime viewing for the fireworks and tunes spun by live DJs. Tickets start at $35.

Bar Hugo Rooftop

3 p.m.

The LookUp Rooftop

4 p.m. to midnight

The Kixby Hotel’s newly opened rooftop is throwing a party with a view of the Empire State Building and the fireworks in the distance with a live DJ, light cuisine and craft cocktails. Admission is $15 or $35 with two drinks.

PHD Terrace
210 W. 55th St.
Doors open at 4 p.m.

Head to this multi-level space with views of Times Square for a night of dancing, specialty cocktails and food with a live screening of the fireworks. Tickets start at $25.

Social Drink & Food
570 10th Ave.

Spend the day playing beer pong (for prizes), giant Jenga, Connect 4, corn hole and mini golf on Social Drink & Food’s outdoor terrace, which will also have food from the grill and the "Declaration Cocktail" made specially for the event. Admission is free.

The Fulton

Get a seat in a special fireworks viewing area with passed bites, an extensive raw bar and seafood dishes, drinks and more at this new restaurant on the river by Jean George. Tickets are $500.

Mr. Purple
180 Orchard St.
11 a.m. to late

Dance to music spun by a live DJ and enjoy specialty cocktails and a barbecue menu with oysters, watermelon salad, shrimp tacos, Chicago-style hot dogs and more, plus festive pool floaties. Admission is free.

Brooklyn

Start your day with the awe-inspiring Nathan’s Famous Hot Dog Eating Contest at 10 a.m. and enjoy the fun that Luna Park and Deno’s holds until 6 p.m. when the Brooklyn Cyclones take on the Aberdeen IronBirds (tickets are $15). Then at 9:50 p.m., the Steeplechase Spectacular fireworks show begins.

Westlight

Watch the fireworks from a 22nd-floor rooftop bar, which will offer a full bar with entry times at 5, 6 and 7 p.m. Tickets are $95.

House of Yes
2 Wyckoff Ave., Brooklyn
3 p.m. to 2 a.m.

Dance and day drink inside and out at the House of Yes, which will be blasting jams from resident DJs, offering tasty bites like hot dogs (and vegetarian options), and perks for those who wear costumes. Tickets are free before 5 p.m. with an RSVP or $10 in advance and $15 at the door.

Rooftop Reds

2 p.m. to 10 p.m.

For a laid back party with views of the fireworks, head to Rooftop Reds, which will have hammocks available, cornhole games, music, beer, wine and barbecue from Dinosaur BBQ for sale. Tickets are $30.

Coney Island Brewery

2 p.m. to 10 p.m.

When you’re done watching Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest, join Coney Island Brewery for an afternoon of live music in its beer garden by Cousin Earth, Uncle Djuzeppe & The Mob, Ecce Shnak, At the Ready, Violent in Black and I Am The Third. Entry is free.

Cecconi’s Dumbo

7:30 to 11 p.m.

Enjoy a night of cocktails, wine, and Champagne with dancing to a live band at Cecconi’s, which will be serving menu favorites. Dessert will be served before everyone heads to the terrace to watch the fireworks. Tickets are $200 per person.

Sugarcane

7 to 11 p.m.

Take part in a four-hour open bar and munch on passed bites and a buffet dinner (including oysters, clams, shrimp cocktail, a hand roll sushi station, dijonnaise short ribs, Key lime pie and more) at Sugarcane raw bar, which will also have a live DJ and dancing all night long. Tickets are $150 per person.

The Williamsburg Hotel

7 to 11 p.m.

Watch the fireworks from The Water Tower, with a Champagne toast and a buffet with cheeseburgers and barbecue for $300 per person.

Summerly

Starting at 2 p.m.

The rooftop bar and restaurant at The Hoxton hotel has panoramic views of the East River and Brooklyn, which makes for a fireworks viewing spot. There will be a barbecue with sausages, veggie kebobs, hot dogs and hamburgers as well as a lobster-focused menu all weekend long. Live music kicks off at 2 p.m. Admission is free.

Clinton Hall Rooftop
247 Metropolitan Ave.
2 to 4 p.m. or 8 to 10 p.m.

This Williamsburg spot will be serving an open bar with rose and draft beer all day and food, including hot dogs, hamburgers, chopped chicken sandwiches, homemade potato chips and watermelon for $59. If you come for the evening portion, you’ll get a great view of the fireworks.

Pilot
Pier 6
5 to 10 p.m.

Grab a front-row seat to the fireworks from a 1920s schooner with an open bar, nautically-inspired cocktails, and dinner with lobster rolls, oysters and Champagne. Tickets start at $375.

Brooklyn Cider House
1100 Flushing Ave.
Noon to 9 p.m.

The second annual Fourth of July Pig Roast is on at Brooklyn Cider House with live music, patio games and cider, along with whole suckling pig, roast pork platters, roast pork sandwiches and more. Admission is free and dogs are welcome.

Queens

Great Lawn at Astoria Park
7:30 p.m.

Astoria is celebrating with its own fireworks show on June 27 with a spectacular by Grucci fireworks that will be preceded by live music from the Queens Symphony Orchestra. It’s free to attend.

LIC Flea & Food, 5-25 46th Ave.
3 p.m. to midnight

Head to the market, just one block behind the Pepsi-Cola sign, where you’ll find a large selection of food and vendors and an all-Queens beer garden. Catch the fireworks from there. Free to attend.

TWA Hotel’s Pool Bar
JFK Airport
4 to 8 p.m.

If you have to travel on the Fourth of July, it doesn’t have to be a total bummer. The new TWA Hotel is hosting a pool party and backyard barbecue with Aviation Gin. Guests will get two free samples of gin cocktails and have access to burgers, hot dogs, ice cream and more. The pool will be open all day with pool floaties and cornhole nearby. Admission is free.

Staten Island

Empire Outlets

July 4-6

Celebrate America’s independence for three days at Empire Outlets, which will be hosting a slew of activities including live music, street performers, tie-dye workshops, sidewalk chalk art, face painting, sand castle building and an outdoor screening of "Independence Day." There will also be a lineup of food trucks and a pop-up beer garden to keep you fueled. And don’t miss the outlets own fireworks show at 9 p.m. on July 4. Entry is free.

Jersey City

Rooftop at Exchange Place

If you want to get some perspective, Jersey City’s Exchange Place is throwing a party on its rooftop, which has Manhattan skyline views, with a live DJ, handcrafted cocktails and more. Tickets are $40 for non-guests to the hotel. Call 862-704-4515 for tickets.
