Step-by-step instructions on how to paint perfect shapes

  • First, you begin by creating a shape with your painter's tape.

  • Then, brush on some matte medium to help the paint better adhere to the canvas.

  • Make sure to dry the matte medium first. Using a hair dryer speeds up the process.

  • Finally, you can get some paint on the canvas. Make sure to stay within the tape.

  • When you pull up the tape, you'll have a perfect shape.

  • Continue doing this until you have all the shapes you want. If they overlap, cover the already painted shape with tape and use an X-Acto knife to cut around it to remove the excess tape.
