The arrival of the Balmain x H&M line at the retailer’s Manhattan locations has left an impressive void on the racks where the collaborative designs once hung.
Earlier this year, Balmain creative director Olivier Rousteing announced that the brand would team up with H&M to release a cheap-chic collection of the designer fashions that models and celebrities have long enjoyed (think Kardashians) at stratospheric prices.
After months of waiting, fashion-crazed New Yorkers finally got their hands on some of the luxurious threads on Thursday. They flooded H&M stores, and told shopping battle stories on social media with the #HMBalmaination hashtag. Pieces of the collection quickly found their way to eBay, selling for hundreds of dollars over their market prices.
