The West 13th 100 Block Association honored the memory of Bill Borenstein, the association treasurer, who died in October 2002, at a May 1 ceremony in front of the Salvation Army’s Markel Residence on W. 13th St., where association members installed a plaque, above left, in his memory. In addition to being block association treasurer for many years, Borenstein was president of the Village Mews co-op at 141 W. 13th St. In photo at right, his wife, Laura, and daughter, Lea, were among the block association members who attended the memorial and heard Gary Tomei, president of the block association, pay tribute to Borenstein’s activities on behalf of the block and the entire Village.
