Cops search for suspect in hit-and-run that killed man on Long Island Expressway in Queens

Police are investigating a hit-and-run that left a man dead in Queens on Monday morning.

According to the NYPD, officers responded to a 911 call of a motor vehicle collision investigation involving a pedestrian struck near exit 19 on the Long Island Expressway at 5:13 a.m. on Sept. 28. Upon their arrival, officers found an unknown adult man lying on the roadway, unconscious and unresponsive, with severe trauma to his body.

An investigation found that the victim was within the westbound travel lanes on the expressway when he was hit by an unknown vehicle, which fled the scene upon impact. The victim came to rest and was discovered in the right travel lane.

The victim was declared dead at the scene by EMS. No arrests have been made at this time and the investigation is ongoing.
