The Seaport Film and Food festival continues this Fri., July 17. For four consecutive Fridays in July, an array of complimentary food and drinks will be served at 7 p.m. highlighting a particular country, followed by an outdoor screening of a critically acclaimed international film at the Front/Row screen at the intersection of Fulton and Water Sts. The 1998 Irish comedy film “Waking Ned Devine” will be shown this Friday. Admission is free and chairs will be provided.
The eighth annual City of Water Day festival is this Sat., July 18. The region’s largest waterfront festival returns with free events in all five boroughs. In Lower Manhattan, a number of events are happening throughout the day at Piers 25 and 26, including free kayaking and sailing.
Learn to tie knots like a seafarer with crew members on the ship Lilac, and meet sailors from the acclaimed Broadway show “On the Town” starting at 1 p.m. at Pier 25. Hudson River Park educators will also be available to give fishing lessons. Also on Sat., July 18 join other soccer fans at the South Street Seaport for a Red Bulls viewing party. Activities for all ages start at 4:30 p.m., where the Red Bulls Street Team will perform freestyle tricks to hype up fans before the game against Orlando City. The game kicks off at 7:30 p.m.
ModaBox, the NYC women’s clothing store will be hosting Trek-A-Porter, a mobile pop-up shop on Sun., July 19 from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. The event will take place on Front St. between Fulton and John Sts.
Joining together local artisans, designers, musicians, decorators and writers for an entertaining shopping experience, Trek-A-Porter will highlight unique individuals working in creative fields.
Hosted by the Municipal Art Society of New York, the 200 years of sculpture in under one mile walking tour starts at 5 p.m. on July 19. Take a stroll from Cass Gilbert’s Custom House at Bowling Green to McKim, Mead & White’s Municipal Building while admiring public sculpture that spans 200 years. Tickets are $20 or $15 for society members and can be purchased online at mas.org/tours.
